1. Arrest- Related/In-Custody Death Awareness
8-hour seminar
Deaths in-custody have been a hot topic over many years, and numerous civil suits and criminal charges
have come out of these deaths. However, the majority of deaths have contributing factors that the
media, politicians, and the public do not want to hear. This seminar will cover the aspects of arrest-
related deaths/in-custody deaths and provide officers with the knowledge of how to handle these
unfortunate situations.
2. Outside the Classroom: Realistic De-Escalation on the Street 4 Hour Block
Law Enforcement De-Escalation is a topic that seems to be the focus of politicians, media, and the
public. A lot of third-party organizations have created their version of best-practices, which does not
always conform with case law. This block of instruction will discuss the myths and fallacies of the publics
definition of de-escalation. Pertinent case law will be discussed concerning your lower appellate
circuits opinions on de-escalation. Real life case studies will be discussed.
3. Vehicle Extractions 101
8-hour block
Dealing with the non-compliant driver or occupant can oftentimes cause uncertainty in an officer,
especially when the subject needs to be removed from the car. This class will provide law enforcement
with the legal knowledge of when they can remove a subject from a car, and physical techniques that
can be used to extract a non-complaint person.
This class will have a short classroom presentation followed by an intense practical exercise.
4. Search and Seizure 101
1.5-day course
Search and Seizure law is a complex area of law enforcement procedures and oftentimes officers
unintentionally cross the line when it comes to a citizens 4th Amendment protection. This 12-hour
seminar will review the basics of criminal procedure and how it applies to search and seizure situations.
Case studies will be presented for class review.
This seminar would benefit law enforcement from all ranks.
5. The Constitutionality of Law Enforcement Encounters
8-hour block
Officers are often confronted with situations in which an accusation of possible constitutional rights
violations are brought forward. This 8-hour course will give your officers the confidence to deal with
various interactions and have the knowledge of what they are legally able to do.
The constitutional rights of all citizens will be discussed, as well as any pertinent state statute and/or
lower appellate court decisions.
6. Use of Force Analysis for Investigators
2.5-day seminar
An officer involved use of force incident could unjustly affect an agency’s creditability with the
community. This 20-hour seminar is an advanced training curriculum for front-line supervisors, Internal
Affairs, Command Staff, or anyone else that may perform internal reviews of officer-involved force
incidents.
This program focuses on the legal, operational, and administrative aspects of conducting an effective
investigation.
